  • Objectives<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  1. To establish a model platform for surveillance to diagnose pneumonia and to isolate Streptococcus pneumoniae<\/em> in the community<\/li>\n
  2. To diagnose invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) among children younger than five years of age and isolate Streptococcus pneumoniae <\/em>from them<\/li>\n
  3. To determine patterns of VT pneumococcus colonizing in nasopharynx of children 2-59 months of age, diagnosed with pneumonia and IPD, in a community setting and monitor changes in their serotypes over time. This will be continuous data collection over the period<\/li>\n
  4. To monitor pattern of naso-pharyngeal VT pneumococcal colonization in the school going children aged 5-11 yrs at baseline before introduction of PCV vaccine in the area<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
