Brief:  New opportunities to work on different land categories through a variety of village level institutions provided a more enabling environment to address the critical task of ecological restoration in the country and led to the setting up of the Foundation for Ecological Security in 2001. The Foundation is registered under Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860, New Delhi.

Thrust areas: “As ‘ecological security’ is the foundation of sustainable and equitable development, the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) is committed to strengthening, reviving or restoring, where necessary, the process of ecological succession and the conservation of land, forest and water resources in the country.”

Funding opportunity:  A Fellowship on ‘Communities in Conservation': An initiative of FES in the North-East, India.

Who can apply: The fellowship encourages individuals eager to comprehend and conserve the biodiversity values of the region. They could be engaged in employment (full time / part time) / pursuing academics or otherwise. The fellowship would favour activities that lead towards field level conservation while age and academic qualifications are not a bar.
